Turismo e actividades
Chipiona is a fishing village that lives from the sea, from tourism and from the countryside where all kinds of products are grown, especially flowers, which are exported all over the world. Good seafood and fried fish can be tasted in any bar or restaurant in Chipiona. Its white sandy beaches, rich in iodine, are awarded every year with the Blue Flag of the Clean Seas of Europe. Chipiona's wine par excellence is Moscatel, a sweet wine of exquisite taste to be enjoyed at any time of the day.
Beaches and water sports, horses, golf, SPA's etc.
We recommend a quiet barefoot walk along the shore of the beach in the early hours of the day, a stroll through the pine forests or a visit to the city of Cadiz on the catamarans of Rota or El Puerto de Santa Maria. A visit to the wineries of Jerez de la Frontera, a visit to the Doñana Park, a lunch in Bajo de Guía in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, a visit to the Sanctuary of the Virgen de Regla, a day in the village of the Virgen del Rocío, and many more activities. Chipiona is a town in the province of Cadiz, 52km from the capital with 17,000 inhabitants.
The name of Chipiona derives from an ancient lighthouse located at the mouth of the river Guadalquivir, this lighthouse was built for ships to escape the dangers of the salmedina stone, causing numerous shipwrecks.
Another attraction of Chipiona are the fishing corrals, are enclosures enclosed by a wall of rounded contour of porous stones of handmade construction.
The fauna found in these pens are limpets, burgaos, clams, oysters, crabs, shrimps, sea urchins and ortiguillas.
The monument of Rocio Jurado is located at the entrance of the fishing marina, facing the front of the fishing district that saw her birth and the avenue that bears his name.
The main beaches of this locality are, the beach of regla framed between the beaches cruz del mar - las canteras and camaron, the beach of the pier is next to the marina, the beach of the three stones and the beach of the whale among others.
The most visited in the town of Chipiona is its Ftaro which is one of the most important in Europe, as well as its Sanctuary of the Virgen de Regla.
From Chipiona we can visit Rota, El Puerto de Santa Maria, Sanlucar de Barrameda where the Guadalquivir River flows and eat fried fish in Bajo Guia, make excursions to the Coto de Doñana from Sanlucar and visit Jerez de la Frontera with its wineries and exhibition of horse dances.
The most important festivals of this town are the carnivals in February, the pilgrimage of the pine forest in June, the festivities of the Virgen del Carmen on July 16 where they embark the virgin on the beach of the pier and walk surrounded by sailors boats, the Muscatel festival in August and the pilgrimage of the Virgin of Regla in September where she is taken in procession through the streets of this town.
We can also highlight the horse riding club, the cultural flamenco club, the pine forest of La Peritanda, a recreation and relaxation area very close to the beach of Las Tres Piedras, the municipal sailing school and the zero pintball club area.
